APPARENT HORIZON, 2008 An installation that address the idealism of ‘The American Dream’, both in its potential and in its shortcomings. A pier that morphs into a loading dock acts as two kinds of docks at once, while a transluscent plastic-stip door doubles as a scrim for a video projection. Video footage captured by a video camera pointed out to sea at the horizon line is accompanied by the sound of the hiss of a needle on a record before the music begins to play.

YOUR WINDLESS ARRANGEMENT REMIXED, 2008 An installation created for the Repetti Gallery exhibition 'Take Your Time, Man' , which invited a group of artists to re-imagine an Olafur Eliasson piece in a reclaimed three-story building in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. |
STAGE, 2007 Wood, metal, rubber. 7’ x 11’ A retractable stage built in three sections. During the Frequencies exhibition the stage was put down in the evenings to be utilized for evening concerts leaving traces of these performances on the surface of the piece. |
SHOOTING STARS,
2006 |
ONCE UPON A TIME YESTERDAY, 2005 A chest freezer, an ice sculpture of Sleeping Beauty’s castle, and songs I wrote based on my teenage diaries and letters recorded by the Brooklyn band Hide the Knives. 35” x 33” x 22” The piece evokes romantic notions of love and relationships giving way (melting into) the more angst- ridden voice of young garage bands in the midst of discovering that “real life” does not always look or feel like they said it would in fairy tales (but maybe that’s OK). |
BRINGING YOU THE FREEDOM TO CHOOSE, 2005 |
FEAR ITSELF, 2005 Installation, dimensions variable and 1 min. 3 sec. of audio One of two site-specific pieces created for the exhibition “No Apology for Breathing” which sought to draw parallels between the architecture and politics of the 1930s and today. It includes a 2.5 ft. cardboard cut-out of King Kong, a film spot light, and a security motion sensor light which triggers a CD player; the audio is Marian Anderson singing “My Country Tis of Thee” during a 1939 concert in front of the Lincoln Memorial (on that date she was banned by the DAR from performing at Constitution Hall because she was black); electrical wire, and used desert combat boots. |
